The Marrow

Did you ever read Walden back when you were in school? Thoreau is truly one of the greats. I really appreciate his yearning to live life to its fullest. He remarks, “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, to discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practice resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life.” I love that. This has been a banner year for me– turning 30 has led me to evaluate things in my life and reflect on who I am and what I truly want out of life. And I want The Marrow. I want to experience the depth that life has to offer. I don’t want a robotic existence, leading my life simply out of habit or obligation. I want to reach for something expansive and beautiful. To experience joie de vivre as a constant state of living. The world can be disheartening and corrupt. But life does not have to be that way– I truly believe that.

And so we begin… ♥
